GeneDescription RAD54 is a core constituent of the RAD52 epistasis group that encodes the proteins that are essential for HR in eukaryotes. It appears that Rad54 functions as a homomultimeric assembly and no stable in vivo complex of Rad54 with other proteins has been reported.
GeneFunction Heyer et al. (2006), stated that RAD54 is required for spontaneous and induced mitotic recombination, and rad54 mutants show a reduction to the same extent as rad51 or rad52 mutants in recombination assays that require DNA strand invasion. Rad54 from human and zebrafish share 78.4% identity.
GeneCloning Rad 54b is contained in a BAC clone CH211-79L20 (Vector: pTARBAC2.1)
GeneStructure This gene encodes for a single transcript ENSDART00000138496 which consists of 15 exons and is 3229 bps in length. The protein product (ENSDARP00000113995) consists of 917 residues.
