GeneDescription

GeneFunction Yurco et al. (2007) suggest a model of vertebrate retinal repair in which damage-induced expression of proneural genes, plus canonical Notch-Delta signaling, could contribute to retinal stem cell promotion and subsequent regenerative neurogenesis. An injury-induced, enhanced expression of ash1a was observed in Müller cells, which is hypothesized to contribute to the transition of these cells, or their cellular progeny, into a notch3-expressing, regenerative progenitor.
GeneCloning Zebrafish notch3 genomic sequence is contained in two different BAC clones namely, CH211-69E21 containing 182325 bp as per GenBank:BX004869 (ZFIN ID: ZDB-BAC-050218-541) and DKEY-18G4 containing 186318 bp GenBank:BX119930 (ZFIN ID: ZDB-BAC-050218-537).
GeneStructure This gene encodes one transcripts. ENSDART00000073930 consists of 33 exons and is 9856 bps in length. The protein product ENSDARP00000068420 consist of 2648 residues.
