GeneDescription HAS1 is a member of the hyaluronan synthases which have been implicated in regulating the migratory potential of metastatic cancer cells.
GeneFunction Bakkers et al. (2007) isolated three members of the Has gene family from zebrafish, has1, has2 and has3, which are closely related to the corresponding orthologs from human and mouse. The temporal expression profiles of has1, has2 and has3 during Zebrafish development were determined through semiquantitative RT-PCR analysis. This showed the expression of has1 transcripts during early developmental stages which was found to be initiated in 2-day-old larvae and continues in adult tissues.
GeneCloning The gene is contained in BAC clone DKEYP-84F3 (Vector: pIndigoBAC-536).
GeneStructure Has1 encodes a single transcript ENSDART00000130420 which consists of 5 exons with the transcript length of 1854 bps. The protein product ENSDARP00000105518 consists of 617 residues.
