GeneDescription Grk7a is a member of the grk subfamily of proteins. It is one of the paralogs of GRK7 in zebrafish.. They are characterized by their ability to phosphorylate and desensitize agonist-occupied cell surface G protein-coupled receptor proteins .
GeneFunction Rinner et al. (2005) prepared riboprobes specific for grk7b, which showed that grk7b is expressed in the pineal gland and in low amounts in the photoreceptors. and was hardly detectable in the eyes. Wada et al. (2006) expressed Grk 7b in the brain devoid of the pineal gland . He performed in situ hybridization but can not detect grk7b showing its lower expression level in the eye. This shows Grk 7b functions as dominant subtype in zebrafish.
