GeneDescription The inflammatory cytokine I-309 is one of the small inducible chemotactic and inflammatory peptides having a hydrophobic leader sequence. Depending on whether the protein has 2 adjacent cysteine residues or a single amino acid separating the 2 cysteine residues, respectively, the superfamily is divided into 2 subfamilies, CC or CXC. It is structurally related to the CXC group of proteins.
GeneFunction Miller et al. (1990) reported the isolation and characterization of a cDNA clone, I-309 that encoded a small secreted protein produced by activated human T lymphocytes. They further reported the isolation and characterization of the gene encoding I-309. They used panels of rodent-human somatic cell hybrid to map the I-309 gene to human chromosome 17. Their result suggested the presence of a cluster of related genes on this chromosome.
GeneCloning Ccl1 is contained in the BAC clone named DKEYP-55H4 (Library: Daniokey Pilot, Vector: pIndigoBAC-536)
GeneStructure The gene encodes one transcript. The transcript ENSDART00000081457 consists of 3 exons and is 495 bps in length. The protein product (ENSDARP00000075898) consists of 93 residues.
