GeneFunction Leung et al. (2007) found atic to be overexpressed in RPE(retinal pigment epithelium) and is retrived as a human homologous gene.Steinke et al. (2006) used BLAST searches and phylogenetic methods to identify atic as a duplicated gene where one of the paralogs shows a significantly high rate of molecular evolution whereas the other copy did not. Atic play a role in the diversification of lineages and a significant increase in evolutionary rates in one of the duplicates.Kohn et al. (2006) developed in silico analysis of orthologous gene pairs in the form of a universal E-painting tool and showed that atic is an orthologous gene identified in each genome of human ,chicken,pufferfish and Zebrafish.They also revealed their gene synteny.
